Marya was born and raised in Afghanistan and through a scholarship grant was able to attend Dana Hall, an all-girls high school in the United States. She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Rochester and a Master’s degree from Columbia University. She taught English in Iran for three years before obtaining an MBA from Thunderbird, the American Graduate School for International Management. After a banking career, she retired as Senior Vice President and Senior Credit Officer from PNC Bank.
Her father, Dr. Abdul Kayeum, instilled in her not only his love of country but a sense of commitment, duty and service to others. She is excited to honor his memory in her role, responsible for managing FEDAA messaging, media and public relations.
